Ray and Deborah in Colorado
Well, Deb and I have finally made the move to Colorado!! After a mad rush at the last weekend possible (naturally) a 20ft container was stuffed and shipped off to Colorado. Deb immediately flew off to family in Gloucester, Ma while Ray flew into Los Angeles to meet his favorite nephew Arlen for a well deserved Road Trip.
After hooking-up with Arlen at LAX ( a pit of airports) and realizing I wasn't going to see my luggage; thanks to Alaska Air, we hopped a bus to claim the car for our sojourn. We picked up the car without mishap, paid a rediculous amount of cash for a tank of gas and were off to Yorba Linda, CA to stay with my childhood buddy, Dr. Brian Kutsunai. It was a short stay with two notable incidents;one piece of my luggage showed up at 2AM and one of my friends phuff dogs bit myself and Arlen while our backs were turned. The Little Bastard!
So off we were to the stain on the desert landscape otherwise known as Las Vegas. My dear friends, Scott and Jennifer Scrodes were kind enough to put us up at the Luxor for two nights. It was a drunk-fest to be sure with copious amounts of wine served at dinnerthe first night and then at the Vodoo Cafe the second night.
Then we were off to Utah to do a tour of all the National Parks; Zion being the star of the show as usual. We stayed at the fabulous Flannigan's Inn just outside the entrance of the park in Villa II. The dinner at the inn's restaurant was one of the best I ever had and cheap, mainly because the waitress spaced-out the bottle of wine we had. But even after adding that on it was a great meal for the price. The next day we tried the Rattle snake
cakes at the Diablo.
