The first Road Trip

Glenwood Springs, Colorado. We decided that Las Vegas would be insane to try and deal with for New Years, so we settled on this gem of a town on the other side of the Rockies, about 158 miles from Denver. It is famous for the natural mineral hot springs and really lived up to its reputation. We stayed at the Hot Springs Lodge right across from the springs themselves (see photos) and it was one of the most relaxing and fun times Deb and I have had. There are two pools; a theraputic pool kept at 104 degrees and a huge (400ft) pool kept at maybe 90 degrees or so. The town itself is really quaint with nice restaurants and shops. We ate at Doc Holiday's saloon and there was a hotel that he died at but it burned down in 1945 and was replaced with a store. there are also the Yampa vapor caves that one can go and clear out the sinuses. Aspen is about 10 miles up the road. There is also the Hotel Colorado built in 1909 by the same guy who paid $125,000 for the springs and 10 acres which was a good move.
